Product Description

High capital investment characterizes Oil & Gas industry, ensuring maximum uptime and throughput in often highly corrosive conditions. Equipment deterioration may result in huge economic losses. This industry is also typical in the requirement of its in-process protection needs and the layup or mothballing of equipment & installations.

Most O&G equipment needs internal corrosion protection of pipelines, fabricated vessels, and storage tanks. Internal preservation, using water or oil-based systems, can be done with NOX-RUST® VCI liquids & powders for offshore & onshore production. NOX-RUST® VCI liquids are self-applying and self-replenishing preservatives designed for internal systems without the need for expensive coatings. These VCI oils conform to MIL-P-46002A. NOX-RUST® VCI powders need to be fogged in suitable quantities to protect for years.

SACI® technology provides sustainable corrosion protection even in the most challenging climates without any hazardous by-products. Such products are available in the form of a solvent-based coating or water-based solutions. NOX-RUST® OCTG coatings provide exceptionally high salt spray life, combining long-term protection with easy removal. Coatings conforming to MIL-SPEC MIL-PRF-16173 E provide tenacious film & hassle-free protection in scorching conditions.

DAUBERT VCI® packaging materials conforming to MIL-PRF-3420 provide a fast, efficient way to pack and preserve parts- assemblies & equipment alike. Upon quick and easy removal of the protective films or packaging, the preserved materials are ready for reuse. DAUBRITE® emitters & foam provide an extra reservoir of VCI for extended protection. Preservation during storage of spare parts can be done with a combination of DAUBERT VCI® films & light RPs from the range of the NOX-RUST® liquid.

The main selection criteria for VCI usage are – Substrate metallurgy, protection duration, surface contamination, climatic conditions, size and weight of the substrate (parts), overall packaging design & cost targets. Some important considerations for products based on DAUBERT VCI® technology are Quantity of VCI (Surface Area) - VCI should be at least 1/3rd of the metal surface to be protected, Distance from Metal - Distance between metal & VCI Carrier should not exceed 300-400 mm (12-16”), VCI Access to Metal - VCI Carrier should have ‘vapor’ phase access to all surface areas required to be protected, VCI Side - Face unprinted side (coated side) to metal and Moisture Barrier - While airtight packaging is not required, suitable protection against the free flow of air depending upon climatic conditions and duration of protection is recommended. Suitable precautions also need to be taken to seal / tape adequately for both inner & out packaging.

Based on the packaging requirements, various VCI carrier variants like DAUBERT VCI® FILMS, DAUBERT VCI® PAPERS, DAUBRITE® NF VCI EMITTER CUM DESICCANT, DAUBRITE® MPI FOAM, and DAUBRITE® 5 VCI EMITTERS can be used to provide adequate cost-optimized rust protection with or without the use of RP oils. Most DAUBERT VCI® products are globally approved by OEMs & meet MIL-Spec requirements.
